God's Mind: And the Uneducated seer from Poughkeepsie Who Could Read it
As I prepare to release my new book, The Mind of God, which
explores the phenomenon of channeling—its mechanics, its power, and its
implications for understanding how the universe is structured—I want to share
an important insight prompted by a question from one of the channelers I have
worked with - Marjie Bassler and the guides who speak through her.
Channeling rests on a simple but profound idea: that
information seems to come from “the other side of the river of forgetfulness.”
Anyone familiar with UFO experiencer accounts will recognize this theme.
Roughly 60–70% of UFO witnesses and near‑death experiencers report that, at
some point during their encounter, they suddenly knew everything—the structure of the universe, the
purpose of life, the answers to every question. They also report that they were
not permitted to bring that knowledge back, only the memory that for a brief
moment they possessed it.
If one pays attention, a startling implication emerges: if
all answers—every invention, every insight into the workings of the cosmos,
every understanding of our place within it—already exist “out there,” then
discovering how that information is stored and how it can be accessed becomes a
critical task.
This is, in many ways, the central purpose of investigating
UFOs and other anomalous phenomena. These stories may hold clues to where we
came from, where we are going, and what we came to Earth to do—even if the
ultimate answer turns out to be “nothing at all.”
If UFO and NDE experiencers are blocked from returning with
the truth, the natural question becomes: Is there any way to hack the system?
Channeling, at least in theory, is one such method. The channel engages with a
consciousness on the far side of the river of forgetfulness, asks questions,
and transmits the responses back into our world.
As with music or athletics, there are those who attempt
channeling, those who can do it, and then the rare virtuosos. In the channeling
world, these virtuosos are the trance channels—individuals capable of producing
entire books in a single flow, without hesitation, filler, or revision. No
“ums,” no “well, I think,” no searching for words.
And most striking of all, as I demonstrate in The Mind of
God, is the remarkable consistency of the material. Across 175 years of
documented channeling, the core messages align—right down to the recurring
descriptions of the mistakes souls make while incarnating on other worlds
within our own star system. The continuity is too strong to ignore.
This brings me back to Marjie Bassler and her guides. I’ve
followed her twice‑weekly channeling sessions for some time now, and on
occasion I’ve posed questions
that have puzzled me. The answers I’ve
received have consistently been thoughtful and satisfying. Here is her simple
Facebook page where people can follow the messages from the guides. Marjie does
not make money or really promote her guide sessions.

This time, my question focused on something the guides
seemed not to have discussed much the idea of why we are here, and whether we
come into life with missions or assignments. The “mission” concept is
widespread among UFO experiencers. Many believe they were asked—sometimes
explicitly—to write about their encounters or at least speak publicly about
them.
Another major branch of the paranormal world, near‑death
experiences (NDEs), treats the mission idea even more explicitly. Again and
again, experiencers describe reaching a boundary or threshold, only to be
stopped by a religious figure, a soul guide, or a deceased relative who tells
them they must return because their work on Earth is not yet complete. Nearly
all of them resist returning, and some fight desperately to stay.
It struck me that, despite the consistency of these themes
in UFO and NDE accounts, I could not recall the guides ever addressing the idea
that we come to Earth with a task, a lesson, or a mission. When I raised this
with Marjie, she thought the guides might have touched on it before, but she
agreed to ask them directly.
Here is the question I asked,
April 14, 2026
Question from Grant: People who have NDEs speak of being sent back to complete their mission. The Guides don’t seem to talk about this? Do we have a plan or mission when we arrive on Earth? Did Marjie agree to talk to you and put out a message to the world?
Here is the answer I received.
We are here for Grant in these many questions. We would begin by saying that of course your questions and the answers are filtered through your limited human understanding of what is beyond the earthly. Even those who experience separation of the body cannot fully express in words what they experience in the universal because it encompasses so much more than you can imagine or comprehend. Also, each has a somewhat or radically different experience due to their ethereal essence. As you know, each is unique.
When you are readying your essence to inhabit a body, you have some directions you wish to go in the earthly. Some refer to this as a soul contract, but it is not contractual as you think of it. It is not cast in stone, as your saying goes. You have opportunities presented to you that you can follow in order to fulfill those directions you have decided to take upon coming to Earth. Following these makes your life easier in a way as you are not fighting them. This does not mean that your life will be without difficulties, but it does mean that you will be led in ways that will advance your development.
You have free will and you are always in choice. Some will follow the guidance provided to them and act from their knowingness, and others will not. Karma is not as most think of it. It is not served up to you as punishment. Rather, it is an offer for you to learn how to live your life differently.
As for the one we speak through, we all have known each other forever, and she agreed to do this. However, even in this, remember that all is one and so the knowing is not as you think of it in the earthly. There is not the individual separateness that you feel in the earthly, although there is still uniqueness. As humanity progresses, you will become more aware of and more understanding of that which is beyond the earthly which you will rejoin more fully when you leave the body behind.
Feel free to ask again if you have further questions or if we have not answered you fully.
We are done for now.
Thank you.
You’re welcome.
My gratitude goes
to Marjie and the Guides for sharing this wisdom. It mirrors the major channels
I analyzed in The Mind of God, and it strongly suggests that the responses
originate from the larger field of knowledge itself. What is becoming
increasingly clear—through the many channels now emerging around the world—is
that this information is available to everyone. Some can access it directly;
others, like me, are simply fortunate to know someone like Marjie who can bring
it through with such precision.
If there is
something you want to understand, or if you’d like to compare the Guides’
perspective with other material, reach out to Marjie. She is, in my experience,
generous with her time and insight.
